TOHATSU
OUTBOARDS CELEBRATES 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH VARIETY OF
INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS FOR 2006

outboards
Tohatsu Outboards continues the
celebration of their 50th anniversary year as Japan’s first
manufacturer of outboard motors with a variety of innovative
new products including their new 4-stroke 25 and 30 hp EFI
4-Stroke outboards—the industry’s first battery-less manual
start electronically controlled fuel injection outboards.
Tohatsu’s 25 and 30hp
outboards are truly innovative. These new 25/30hp models now
use Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) technology, allowing for
quicker starts in all weather conditions, quieter operation,
better acceleration and automatic adjustments in elevation
changes.
These models also introduce
the industry's first battery-less EFI system. Conventional
EFI models must generate their power from the battery
through the key switch. However, the Tohatsu system differs
in that it receives its voltage directly from the
alternator, allowing the engine to be started by the pull
rope or the electric starter. The Tohatsu 25/30hp includes
the rope start as standard equipment on all electric start
models.
The CD ignition system on the
25 and 30 is especially designed for immediate starting in
all sea and weather conditions. Models are also available
with either a gas-assist tilt, which uses a hydraulic gas
system to make tilting the motor effortless, or a power trim
and tilt system.

Their cross flow induction
design provides optimum power while the three-cylinder
system offers a smooth ride. The 25 hp and 30 hp 4-strokes
respectively use 2.3 and 2.6 gallons per hour at 5500 rpms.
Tohatsu’s 25 and 30 hp
4-strokes also feature a number of safety devices, including
an oil-pressure alert light and an audible oil pressure and
overheat warning system, an over-rev limiter at 6300 rpms,
as well as an overheat sensor and an oil pressure sensor
that limit rpms to 2800.
Thanks to its new
state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Komagane in central
Japan, Tohatsu was also able to upgrade its five-step
painting process. This innovative approach to the painting
process includes an additional clear coat, providing
superior protection for their outboards.
Additionally, all Tohatsu
4-stroke models come with a 3-year limited warranty. |
