BFT VAPOR SEPARATOR FLOAT RECALL CAMPAIGN

This notice is provided in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Boat Safety Act and other applicable laws and regulations.

DESCRIPTION OF RECALL CAMPAIGN
This recall is related to the vapor separator float in certain BFT115A/BFT150A/BFT200A/BFT225A/BFT250A models. It has come to our attention that on certain models, the vapor separator float may fail or not operate properly causing fuel to leak from the air vent tube coming from the vapor separator and then exit through the air vent tube and into the main body of the outboard. The problem is typically noticed by a strong smell of fuel during or after operation, a rainbow sheen in the water after operation, or fuel is seen leaking from the outboard under the cover/cowling.
RECOMMENDED ACTION
If your motor is one of the affected serial numbers (see above), we strongly urge you to contact your nearest Authorized Tohatsu Dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for replacement of your vapor separator float. You should discontinue use of your outboard until the problem has been corrected.
When contacting your Authorized Tohatsu Dealer, mention Service Bulletin 17-028 (for 200-250hp models) or 17-029 (for 115-150hp models) and present this notice to the dealer when you take your engine in for service.
The replacement work will be performed FREE OF CHARGE to you.
