Tohatsu Corporation is proud to introduce a new electric portable fire pump. As the oldest Japanese portable fire pump manufacturer with a legacy spanning more than a century, this product marks a strategic innovation in the company's history.
Founded in 1922, Tohatsu Corporation has been at the forefront of portable fire pump manufacturing, consistently setting industry standards with a commitment to precision, reliability and innovation. The company developed Japan's first portable fire pumps in 1949, establishing Tohatsu as a trusted global leader in the firefighting industry. This new product signifies a tremendous step forward in the evolution of the firefighting industry, as not many fire pumps are truly portable or easy to operate.
"We aim to empower heroes around the world to build local resilience with simple, secure and environmentally-responsible disaster response solutions," said Tohatsu Corporation President Isami Hyuga. "To this end, Tohatsu is committed to providing reliable and straightforward products that people feel comfortable using, backed with strong support service."
This lightweight, electric portable fire pump, the VM130, has a discharge performance of 130 LPM at 0.3 MPa (max. flow rate of 200 LPM) and weighs 24 kg. The VM130 is equipped with an electric motor driven by an external lithium-ion battery, which is operated fully electric and without traditional fuel. The pump case and impeller are anodized to resist sedimentary water wear, which also allows it to be used for dewatering response. The VM130 consists of fewer items to inspect and requires less maintenance compared to combustion engine pumps.
The VM130 is truly portable and is as easy to operate as a household appliance. The 4.3" touchscreen display maintains visibility in all weather conditions and allows operators to monitor the pump status at any time of day. It also shows the state of battery charge, time left and pump operation instructions.
Fire pump operation is achieved in four simple steps:
1. Turn power switch to "ON"
2. Prime suction hose with water for discharge
3. Open the discharge valve with handle
4. Increase throttle knob to discharge water
"Unprecedented climate change has produced challenging, large-scale fires around the world. Tohatsu's mission is to unlock firefighting and disaster solutions for everyday heroes," continued Hyuga. "Our products are developed to protect life, property and maintain safety. This new electric portable fire pump reflects our dedication to pushing the boundaries of innovation while staying true to the values that have defined Tohatsu for more than a century."
Stay tuned for further updates and details as Tohatsu concentrates on bringing this groundbreaking electric portable fire pump to the global market, combining tradition and innovation to propel the firefighting industry into a new era.
